 We
offer full service for your heating equipment, air
conditioning system, hot water unit, pool heater,
fire log sets, and more. We have emergency service
available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you will
speak to a live person, not an answering machine.
Preventive Maintenance and Inspection.
The best way to improve your heating
system is to get an annual tune up. Besides saving
money on fuel, tune ups can reveal safety problems
such as frayed wires, worn parts, or a blocked flue
or chimney. The annual tune up will return your heating
system to peak efficiency. You will extend the life
of critical parts like the heat exchanger. We offer
"summer specials" which will save you money.
The annual tune up includes the following:
• Inspection, cleaning and adjustment of head
assembly, burner fan and motor, ignition system and
controls.
• Lubricate burner motor, blower motor, circulator
motor and bearings.
• Vacuum cleaning of boiler or furnace, flue
pipe and chimney base (when accessible).
• Replace nozzle, filter and strainer (if applicable).
• Perform a combustion efficiency test.
Your heating system will not start. What
can you check before calling for service?
• Check the heating system switches to make
sure they are in the "on" position. usually
1 is at the top of the stairs leading to the basement
(they are often red switches).
• Check the oil tank and make sure there is
enough fuel in your tank. Do not bang on your tank.
It will always sound empty (hollow).
• Check your thermostats and make sure they
are set higher than the temperature of the room and
the switch is set to heat.
• Check your circuit breakers and fuses; make
sure they are not in the "off" or tripped
position.
• If none of the above seems to be the problem,
press the reset button ONLY ONCE.
If you cannot find the reset button, please call for
service.
• If the unit comes on and stays on, you are
probably ok. If it only runs for a short time or does
not start at all, please call for service.
Chimney Cleaning. There
is some soot produced by your oil fired heating system,
and this should be cleaned out every few years. When
you have this done, they will remove any leaves or
debris and check the lining for cracks. Birds will
build nests in the chimney and will cause air flow
restrictions. You can install a chimney cap to keep
leaves and debris from lodging; a chimney cap does
not restrict air flow.
